The answers to your questions about Camillette jewelry & services
Materials
Keep your jewelry looking new! Use a jewelry polishing cloth, which can be purchased here or at your local jeweler’s shop. No water needed. Simply rub your jewelry with the cloth. It can be used until it is completely darkened. Do not wash the cloth.
Bronze and brass jewels naturally tarnish and oxidize faster than silver. Some skins react more and a dark mark can appear. This is not abnormal and is not a defect of the product. Homemade tricks: to clean silver, use toothpaste. For brass & bronze, try rubbing it with ketchup. Rinse and dry thoroughly.
*It is not recommended to use liquid silver polishing solution (e.g Tarnex).
The term solid gold indicates that the jewel is made entirely of gold. However, it does not mean that it is made of pure gold. Solid gold can have a variable number of carats: 10k, 14k, 18k, etc. (see article The different types of gold and their classification to learn more about carats).
Gold plating is a thin layer of gold deposited on another metal by electroplating. The minimum thickness of the gold layer is (175 microns). If the plating is thinner, it is called gold wash or gold flash plating.
Gold filled (gold laminate) is the lamination of a layer of gold onto another metal. The layer of gold, the number of carats varies, is fused to a base metal. For example, 14k laminated gold (14k GF), means that the gold layer is in 14k. The thickness of the gold layer varies depending on the supplier. It is generally thicker than the plating.
The black oxidized silver is sterling silver that has undergone a chemical treatment process to produce a dark or black surface. This oxidation process creates and ages or antique finish that highlights the details of jewelry and gives it a distinctive appearance.
A good way to measure your finger size is to use a ring you already own or wear. Just measure the inside diameter of the ring with a tape. The Camillette size chart will give you an approximate of what size to choose according to your measurement. It is still advised to get you finger measured by a jeweler who uses a ring sizer. You can come by the workshop so we can measure your finger and get the best size for you. Just contact us to make an appointment.
A good way to measure your wrist size is to use a soft tape measure. Roll it around the larger part of your hand (at your thumb's last knuckle level). The Camillette size chart will help you to find the perfect Camillette bracelet size for you.

Customization
Unfortunately, it is not possible to make the rings in gold in our workshops. Gold is very particular and difficult to work with. It requires advanced skills. Plus, it's very, very expensive. For a first jewelry project, your ring may not be perfect. Therefore it is risky and expensive to make a first project using gold. However, it is possible to make your ring in silver or brass in the workshop and then have it molded and cast in the material of your choice. If this option interests you, I can help you achieve it. Contact us for more information.
Unfortunately, it is not possible to integrate stones on your ring in our workshops. The integration of stones, or setting, requires advanced skills. For a first jewelry project, the integration of stones is too complex.
